I work mainly as a trainer and a coach. This means that I run a number
of courses, both in-house and privately. The in-house ones are usually
for companies or organisations. They are mostly skill-based, though they
also help participants to learn something about themselves while they are
on the courses: the common element to all of them is personal and professional
development at work. I work in English and German, and in a number of different
countries. My area of expertise is interpersonal skills, and I facilitate
in-company training programmes in learning, trainer training, communication,
presentation skills and how to run a meeting effectively. I also lead
‘getting to know each other’ events, and have considerable experience of
running team building functions. Current (2009) and recent clients include
Munich Reinsurance Company (Munich, London and Johannesburg), the South
African National Defence Force, Nedbank and the Tipperary Rural Business
Development Institute.
The privately-run courses are nearly all about some form of personal development or psychology. I am a trainer for Adler’s Individual Psychology, an accredited trainer for Neuro-Linguistic Programming and a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (CTSTA). I have several professional qualifications, mostly in the field of coaching, psychotherapy and training. I believe in continuing personal development (do about 90 hours a year), have regular on-going supervision for my practice and have professional indemnity. A list of qualifications is at the bottom of this page. My strength as a coach is helping people understand how their minds work, and then coaching them as they unstick themselves and move forward. I work face-to-face and by telephone, though the first meeting is ideally in person. My clients are both individuals and management teams. I am particularly skilled at helping people who are or want to be in transition. Together with Philip Brew, I am Director of Coaching Development Ltd. We offer an in-depth coach training which has been fully accredited by the International Coach Federation. This training takes place in Co. Tipperary, London and Cape Town, with other centres in development. With Kelly Holland I co-direct Coaching Changes Ltd. This company produces learning and development material for qualified coaches and the general public. Combining my training as a counsellor and as a coach, I run Talking Partnerships. This service is a service which meets potential or future partners who want to get off on a sound footing. We start work by working out a psychological profile of all players, highlighting areas of agreement, and flagging up areas of possible concern. Developing a plan for future action from this information, the coaching process accompanies both partners through the first period of their time together. Talking Partnerships is also a valuable resource for succession planning. Herewith a short c.v. and a list of qualifications, dated the end of 2008. Professional Experience
